English Civil War Royalist Harness Boss. Circa, 1638-1649 AD. Copper-alloy, 72.41 grams. 69.16 mm. An impressive cast bronze mount from a horse harness or carriage. The piece is formed of a large dome within a wreath border, around are a series of triangular lugs detailed with foliate motifs. The dome is detailed in high relief with the image of Charles I on horseback riding left. The two original copper rivets survive intact. Ref: for similar see, PAS: SUR-23EF78.
